In light of the current Covid-19 Crisis we are taking various steps to keep our staff and guests safe.

Some General Information you should know;

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

  • People ill with COVID-19 infection have reported mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of cough, fever, fatigue, sore throat, runny nose, difficulty breathing and/or shortness of breath.
  • While COVID-19 can cause serious illness, many people have only mild symptoms. It appears the illness caused by COVID-19 tends to be less severe than some other coronaviruses like the one that caused SARS.
  • COVID-19 infection can be very serious for people with health conditions, such as diabetes, heart issues or breathing troubles.

How is COVID-19 spread from person-to-person?

  • COVID-19 is spread mainly by coughing, sneezing or direct contact with a sick person, or contact with surfaces a sick person has recently touched.
  • COVID-19 can also be spread where droplets (like from a cough or a sneeze) land on a surface which someone then touches. If that person puts their hands near their mouth, nose or eyes, the person may become ill.
  • There is uncertainty about the possibility of spread from an infected person who doesn’t yet have symptoms, but this is unlikely to contribute much to the spread of the virus

With everything that Is going on we thought it best to explain a few stipulations and protocols that the hotel has put into place for its guests and staff.

  1. Cleaning Protocols

St. Christopher’s Hotel tracks the cleanliness of its rooms and public areas through regular audits and through your guest comments. Our hotel is very competitive, and our property takes great pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for guests. While St Christopher’s Hotel regular cleaning protocols are rigorous, we have additional protocols in place during this period where the containment of COVID-19 is paramount. We have increased the frequency of cleaning key public spaces, wiping down frequently touched items such as elevator buttons and door handles with Unitab™ Disinfectant a Troclosene sodium or Chlorine based, virus-killing formula.  After each checkout every room goes through a thorough and disinfecting cleaning, and all our house keeping staff are taking extra care for washroom/beds of the rooms as with in rooms these areas are the most used.

  1. Unwell Staff

We have advised our staff to stay home if they are exhibiting symptoms that align with COVID-19. Should a staff member start to show symptoms of COVID-19 while at work, that member will be instructed to immediately don a face mask, return home directly, and swiftly contact their doctor, the hospital or 811. Any affected work areas and equipment will immediately be sanitized.

  1. Personal Hygiene Best Practices

All staff have been advised of best practices associated with minimizing exposure and spread of germs and associated illnesses. Diligence in regular hand washing, the use of anti-bacterial formulas, coughing or sneezing into their sleeve (never hands) and minimizing face touching has been communicated to our staff.  We ask that all our guests use the same practices as with everyone cooperating is the only way that we can hope to stop the spread of this virus.

  1. Check-In and Check-Out Protocols

Guests are asked upon check-in to remain in there room as much as possible, that if there is someone in the hallway that they wait for that person or persons to leave the hall before they exit their room.  We are also asking that all the guests that stay at our hotel practise social distancing as much as possible that means keeping two arm lengths apart or 2 meters away from everyone as much as possible as 2 meters is the average range of water droplets that travel from a cough and or sneeze.   Once check-in is complete and the guests are in there room the hotel has asked that if the guests have any questions that they dial “0” on the in-room phone (this is a direct line to the front desk) rather then coming to the front desk reception area, again to limit as much human contact, and potential spread as possible.  Upon check-out we ask that guests just leave their key cards in their room and exit through the side doors avoiding the front desk, there receipt will be emailed to them and would again cut down on socializing in the lobby area.

By working together, we can stop the spread of this virus and keep everyone safe we hope for you all to have good health and long life may we all come through this crisis stronger and united.

Thank you
